The Challenge

The client is a retail company with multiple warehouses and an online store. They were facing challenges in managing inventory across these different locations. They wanted to optimize their inventory management and reduce costs by developing a system for transferring items between multiple warehouses. They allready have an existing platform for managing their physical and online store, which is connected to lightspeed. They wanted to integrate this system with the new warehouse transfer system to ensure seamless operations.

The Solution

To address these challenges, we developed a custom warehouse transfer system that integrates seamlessly with Lightspeed. The solution automates stock transfers, minimizes overstocking and understocking, and improves inventory visibility across all locations.

Challenges and Learnings

  • πŸ“Š Data Consistency Issues: Synchronizing inventory data between warehouses and Lightspeed required handling edge cases and processing webhooks from lightspeed itself. Multiple different actions changes the inventory and they all needed to be handled.
  • 🚚 Logistic Complexity: Coordinating warehouse transfers efficiently involved optimizing where stock is most important and prioritising.
  • πŸ“ˆ Scalability Considerations: The current system was made with only one store and one warehouse in mind. Because of this we needed to rethink parts of the system to be able to handle multiple stores and warehouses.

By overcoming these challenges, we delivered a solution that streamlined warehouse operations, reduced stock discrepancies, and improved overall inventory management.
